Sooo, I’m The Boss

Hey there! I’m Jennifer, the proud owner & designer behind the brand. When I'm not doing all things Jamison & Bexley, you can catch me negotiating snacks like it's a high-stakes business deal, chauffeuring my minivan like it’s the Indy 500, being a hot mess in Facebook mom groups, or savoring a nice old fashioned because self-care comes in many forms.

I was born and raised in the good ol' U.S. of A., but my roots trace back to Africa, thanks to my immigrant parents. Yep, first-generation American here, which basically means I grew up navigating two cultures, trying to explain why my mom thought Vicks VapoRub cured everything, and figuring out how to blend tradition with my own dreams. Spoiler alert: it worked.

Ever since I was a little girl, I had this big dream of becoming a fashion designer. You know, sketching outfits, bossing imaginary assistants around, the usual. I even got fancy with it—went to college and snagged a degree in Fashion & Retail Management. After that, I packed up my dreams (and my slightly dramatic collection of shoes) and moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio because Columbus is the third-largest fashion city in the U.S. Who knew, right?

I dove into the fashion scene, participated in runway shows, and designed ready-to-wear women’s clothing that I upcycled from thrift stores.  Called my company Phlipped Fashions. It was all fun and exhilarating until… I had kids. And suddenly, my dreams did what most dreams do when you become a parent—they shifted, but not in a sad way. More like, “Oh hey, let’s pivot” kind of way.

Seven years ago I found myself pregnant, sitting at my corporate office chair and looking at boy baby clothes and frustrated because:

  1. Everything was aggressively pink or blue.

  2. Why did a onesie have to have ruffles or dinosaurs or tractors?

  3. And seriously, could we get some gender-neutral options that are actually cute and can ACTUALLY work for boys and girls?!

So, like any slightly sleep-deprived mom with a Pinterest board full of ideas, I decided to create my own brand—Jamison & Bexley, named after my two favorite (and occasionally feral) humans, Bexley and Jamison. I wanted clothes that were adorable, durable, gender-neutral, and could survive both spaghetti nights and spontaneous mud puddle adventures.

Every item in my shop? Curated, designed, and obsessively handpicked by yours truly. I even got back into designing, starting with T-shirts. My personal faves?

  • “Mixed with Love”: Inspired by my kids, who come from beautifully different racial backgrounds. This tee is for every kid who doesn’t fit into a neat little box (because, newsflash, none of us do). It’s a love letter in cotton form, reminding mixed-race kids that they are perfect, whole, and unapologetically loved.

  • “Apparently I’m Dramatic”: Because, well... if the onesie fits. Let’s be honest, we’re all a little dramatic sometimes, whether it’s a toddler losing their mind over the wrong color cup or me realizing I left my coffee in the microwave… again.

I’m beyond excited to offer gender-neutral pieces that are so durable, they can be passed down from one kid to the next, regardless of gender, vibe, or snack preference.

Thanks for being here. You’re officially part of the Jamison & Bexley crew. We don’t have jackets, but I can make you a cool tee shirt?!
