How to Keep Your Babe Cool During This Disrespectful Heat
Let’s be real—Ohio is out here trying to turn our toddlers into toast. With temps pushing 90+ and that sticky kind of humidity, it’s officially heat advisory season. But don’t worry, fam. We’ve got you. Here’s how to keep your baby (and your sanity) from overheating.

1. Ditch the Layers. Pick the Breeze.
When it's hot, less is more. Go for lightweight, breathable fabrics—bamboo and organic cotton are MVPs. Our bamboo rompers and shortie sets were made for this kinda weather. Avoid synthetic materials that trap heat like your ex traps drama.

2. Hydration Nation.
Babies and toddlers lose fluids fast. Make sure you’re offering water frequently (bonus points for a fun straw cup). For younger babes still nursing or bottle-feeding, feed more often—it helps with hydration.

3. Sunscreen = Non-Negotiable.
Use a mineral-based, baby-safe sunscreen with SPF 30+. Apply it 15 minutes before heading outside and don’t forget those little ears, necks, and chubby thigh rolls. Please contact your child's pediatrician for a more comprehensive list of recommendations.

4. Shade & Cool-Down Zones.
Avoid direct sun between 10am-4pm. Use stroller fans, pop-up tents, or just turn your living room into a climate-controlled indoor playground. And if your kid is red, cranky, or sluggish—bring them in, stat.
Here Are Some Cool-Down Activities For Your Little:
-
Frozen washcloth for chewing
-
Ice cube sensory bin
-
Bathtub beach (no sand, no problem)
-
Early morning or sunset walks
-
Water painting on the driveway
-
Water play with a splash pad or sensory bin
-
Hit up your local children's park that has access to free splash pads. Make sure you bring sunscreen, towels and a tent/canopy/umbrella to create a shaded area
-
Indoor dance party with Gracie’s Corner, or Sesame Street
TLDR:
Dress light. Hydrate often. Sunscreen like a pro. Embrace the chaos but keep it cool.
