Meet Lauren | Mom in Focus

Welcome to the debut of our new blog series, "Surviving Mom Life: Mom in Focus," where we shine a spotlight on amazing moms we know and love each month. Through candid interviews, we'll explore their unique journeys, struggles, triumphs, and the day-to-day realities of motherhood. We’re kicking off this series with a special feature on our newest team member at Jamison & Bexley, Lauren! Join us as we delve into her inspiring story and get to know the incredible woman behind the scenes.

Hey there! I’m Lauren, 20 years old (almost 21 🎉). I met my husband back in high school, and we managed to survive three years of long-distance love. I started my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education in August 2021, and I proudly graduated in 2024! My husband and I got hitched in November 2022, and shortly after, our lives took a turn we didn’t see coming!

In February 2023, I found out I was expecting! Pregnancy brought nine months of relentless nausea, all while juggling college. It was tough keeping up with my grades. I welcomed my son in September 2023 and have been battling postpartum anxiety and depression since. It’s been a challenging journey, one I wouldn’t wish on anyone, but we’re making progress every day. Ten months later, I’m grateful for the beautiful life I have.

Being a stay-at-home mom to my 10-month-old is a blessing. Just when things were getting tough, I spotted an Instagram story from Jennifer, the owner of Jamison & Bexley, looking for social media help. I slid into her DMs, shared my background in boutique management, social media, and my experiences as a young first-time mom. We clicked right away, and long story short… I got the job!

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to have my own classroom one day, where I can make a difference in each child’s life and education.

What does an average day look like for you?

An average day for me is pretty simple! I start with a massive dose of caffeine, play with my son, run errands, or just relax at home.

Your favorite and least favorite part of being pregnant?

My favorite part of pregnancy was feeling Lee’s kicks and movements! The worst part was definitely the all-day morning sickness.

What do you do for self-care?

Self-care is crucial for me because it’s easy to lose myself in my roles as a wife and mom. I remind myself that I’m a great person beyond those titles. My favorite self-care activities include taking baths, having a hair day, and going for walks.

How do you “survive mom life”? What do you do to remind yourself that you’re more than just a mom?

As a young mom, people often underestimate how hard it can be. They say, “Wow, you had a kid at 20?” as if it’s the end of the world. But honestly, my life peaked when I had my son. He keeps me going and reminds me there’s so much more to life. Having a child has taught me patience, joy, and yes, exhaustion! But I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I survive mom life with lots of coffee, patience, and Ms. Rachel.
